How Stress Affects the Body & Ways to Manage It
Stress is a part of life, but too much of it can take a serious toll on your body. From
headaches to heart health, stress affects nearly every system in ways you might
not even realize. But don’t worry, there are plenty of ways to keep it under
control! Chronic stress can lead to brain fog, anxiety, and difficulty focusing. It also
causes tense muscles, headaches, and even back pain. Your immune system can
weaken, making you more prone to illness, while digestive issues like
stomachaches and nausea may arise. Long-term stress can even increase blood
pressure and put extra strain on your heart.
So, how do we manage it?
Listening to music helps lower stress hormones and relax the mind. Exercise, even a
short walk, can boost endorphins, your body’s natural stress relievers. Deep
breathing, like inhaling for four seconds, holding for four, and exhaling for four, can
quickly calm your nervous system. Laughter also works wonders, so watching a
funny show or chatting with a friend can help lighten the mood. And let’s not forget
sleep, prioritizing rest allows your body to recover from daily stressors. Stress
happens, but how you handle it makes all the difference. What’s your go-to way to
de-stress?
