When You Feel Far from God

There are days when God feels close, when worship hits deep, your prayers feel heard, and everything feels full of meaning. But then there are other days, maybe more often than you’d like, where He feels distant. Like you’re praying to a wall. Like you’re walking through life on your own. And maybe no one talks about that enough.

It’s hard when you’re trying to follow God, but your heart feels dry. You go through the motions, read the verses, say the prayers, but it all feels… empty. You wonder if something’s wrong with you. If maybe your faith isn’t strong enough. If maybe God’s disappointed. But He’s not. He’s still there. And feeling far doesn’t mean you’ve failed.

Sometimes we mistake emotions for connection. But God isn’t just in the feelings. He’s in the silence too. He’s there when your prayers are quiet and your heart is tired. He’s there when you’re doubting, questioning, or just trying to keep going. God’s love for you isn’t based on how spiritual you feel. It’s based on His promise, and He never breaks that.

Faith isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s just showing up. It’s choosing to say, “God, I don’t feel you today, but I still believe you’re near.” That kind of faith is powerful. That kind of faith changes you. You don’t need perfect words or a perfect mood. You just need a willing heart. That’s enough for God.

If you feel far from Him right now, you’re not alone. So many people feel that way at some point, including people you look up to. What matters is that you don’t give up. Keep talking to Him. Keep being real. Keep seeking, even in the silence.

You’re not abandoned. You’re not forgotten. Sometimes the strongest faith is the one that stays, even when it doesn’t feel anything at all. God is still working, still loving, still holding you, even if it’s quiet.

Hold on. You’re going to get through this. And when the closeness comes back, and it will, you’ll be stronger, deeper, and more grounded than before.
